As an artist duo, Julian and I have been invited to join the City of Oshawa's temporary public art initiative for Culture Days programming. Our mission is to create a new 7' x 8' mural accompanied by an augmented reality experience that will be accessible to the public.
The artwork will juxtapose local imagery with scenes of ecological destruction to draw your attention to the ongoing climate crisis. Specifically, we will address recent wildfires and the associated air quality concerns that have impacted the Greater Toronto Area and beyond. Locally inspired natural and urban elements will introduce a sense of familiarity to the artwork, serving as a stark reminder that these environmental challenges are unfolding right in our own communities.
Come watch our creative process inside the South Oshawa Community Centre from October 10th to October 17th. We will present an artist talk on Saturday, October 14th, at 3 pm and the completed artwork will be on display until November 17th.
